Protest Over Hunting In Morton National Park
Friday, 15 June 2012 00:43

target Greens State MP David Shoebridge will address a public rally in Bowral this morning (fri) to protest the state government's deal with the Shooters party allowing hunting in a national park stretching across the coast and highlands.

Premier Barry O'Farrell has agreed to allow amateur hunters in 79 of the state's national parks to shoot feral animals in exchange for support from the two Shooters Party MPs on electricity privatisation.

One of the parks is Morton, which stretches from Bundanoon east into a wide area of the Shoalhaven.

National Parks staff claim the deal will make parks unsafe for native fauna and recreational users.

This morning's (fri) rally is being held in the Bowral Library forecourt off Bendooley Street starting at 10am.

Mr Shoebridge says shooters should not be allowed in National Parks and Goulburn MP Pru Goward should state her position on this issue
