The medical examiner's office in Martin County, Florida, has confirmed, just a day after authorities completed their investigation, that Davy Jones' death was caused by a severe heart attack.

The star of 1960's band The Monkees, was reportedly looking perfectly healthy as recently as a couple of weeks ago. Toxicology tests could take another 6 or 8 weeks, but at this stage there's no sign anything else is to blame for the 66 year-old heartthrob's death.

The Monkee's rose to fame as a made-for-tv rock band, modelled on The Beatles. Their television show lasted just 2 years on air, and the group ultimately broke up, but they have been remembered with lasting endurance thanks to hits such as I'm a Believer.
