My camera is brilliant what else can I say. It makes my pictures look good (no pun intended) and no, I dont have any ‘deals’ with Sony, I researched a  lot before making my choice on the SLT A77. In the upper range of Digital Single Lens Reflex camera’s and utilising mirror lens technology, it is very comparable to the 35mm film standard.

No, you don’t need a pilots licence as its one of the easiest bits of DSLR tech to get you’re head around that I’ve come across in a long time.

It took me about 50 shots over 3 hours to get one that was clear enough, mainly due to the prevailing light cloud and also because I wasn’t using a tripod. Nah, I’m not that keen to stand out in the cold for 3 hours, I just watched out the window for a clearing in the clouds every so often!.

At 50-300mm fully zoomed, my shake was a bit much even for the A77’s shake reduction system. That said, remember this is a light object in a totally dark sky 356400km from Earth, and we’re trying to get a lot of detail. I need to buy a tripod!.

I ended up propping my camera on my retaining wall, and using a bit of firewood to give me the angle to centre the moon in the viewfinder. That flexible viewfinder was a godsend in this situation as there would be no way a traditional camera viewfinder would have allowed me to do what I did.

24 mexapixels, snaps 12 shots per second, High Resolution Video, rotatable/tiltable viewing screen, rechargeble batteries (that so far have lasted a very long time!) and accepts the UHS-1 standard SDXC cards. The spec list is huge.
