It's not everyday that one of our own makes it to a feature articles in The Courier... but Power FM's Jules from the Matt & Jules Breakfast made headlines when she locked herself in her own toilet!

A TWO-HOUR ordeal at the weekend has given Power FM radio announcer Jules Zass a new zest for life.
No, she didn't have a near-death experience. Jules got stuck in her toilet ... in a 1980s outfit, no less.

Without a mobile phone to call for help, Jules resorted to screaming for two hours before three strangers came to her aid.

The early-morning announcer had attended a 1980s-themed party on Saturday and arrived home at 10pm to get ready for an early night.

"Because I get up early every day for work, I get tired easily, so I decided to leave the party early," Jules said yesterday. "Because I live by myself, I never close the toilet door, as the handle doesn't work. But I must have been tired on Saturday night and closed it by accident."

After she realised her problem, she also remembered that one neighbour was totally deaf, while the other was away for the weekend.

It took two hours of constant screaming and ramming of the toilet door for another neighbour across the road to hear Jules' plight. Three good Samaritans by the names of Jack, Jesse and Kane came to her rescue.

After Jules removed glass panes from the louvre window, the men passed her screwdrivers, and she managed to dismantle the door handle.

"What made matters worse was the fact that I was still in my 1980s outfit, which consisted of a hideous dress in pink and purple fluoro colours, complete with purple and blue eyeshadow," Jules said.

"I was so panicked and so hysterical .... I literally thought I was going to die and someone would find me on the floor of my loo with this hideous costume on."

Saturday night's incident was not the first time Jules had been stuck in a precarious situation.

During her first part-time job at a supermarket many years ago, Jules was accidentally locked in an industrial freezer.

"I now have a zen-like attitude on life. On Sunday I read a book, I built a bookshelf ... I feel I can take on the world."

Jules has now invested in tape and has covered the door latch so she won't be stuck in the loo again.
