Highway Duplication To Increase Safety: King

Ballarat MP Catherine King has welcomed further work starting on the Western Highway duplication as a crucial improvement in safety.

The duplication of the road between Ballarat and STAWELL is underway with work now starting on the Burrumbeet and Trawalla stage .

The $505 million Western Highway – Ballarat to Stawell project is funded by the Australian Government commitment of $404 million and the Victorian Government commitment of $101 million.

Miss King who helped open the construction said it would improve safety claiming that Between July 2005 and June 2010, there were 55 crashes and three fatalities along this section of the highway.
